PAL Winnipeg is joining creative forces with some of the generous and talented artists from One Trunk Theatre for 204 FM – THE PAL READING HOUR – a unique benefit performance that travels back in time to the days of radio plays. Six stories inspired by Winnipeg’s early history have been created with love and humour by local actor and playwright, Ross McMillan. The two hour show is presented at the Gas Station Arts Centre with all the revenue from the $25 tickets going to support the work of PAL Winnipeg.
McMillan goes back in time to the foundation of Winnipeg in his stories. He tells the story of Mary Ann Kirton –the woman behind Winnipeg’s elm lined streets. He digs into the history of the building of the Legislature. These plays are cheeky takes on familiar and not so familiar local history.
The FuFu ChiChi Choir – made up of local actresses and known for its ribald humour — will be providing a musical conclusion to Act 1 and Act 2 and there will be live foley performance!
Tickets for the fundraiser are on sale now at just $25 each. They can be bought by calling the PTE Box Office at 204-942-5483 or online at PTE. The show will run approximately two hours – not including an intermission.
